What to do first

Use the one-line installer unless you are actively editing the source. It installs a managed Node runtime when needed, installs dependencies, initializes a clean workspace, starts the app at localhost, and opens onboarding.

After onboarding opens, choose a hosted provider, OpenRouter, Claude account OAuth, Codex sign-in for optional coding delegation, or a local OpenAI-compatible model server.

  • Linux, macOS, or WSL users can run the curl installer from the install page.
  • Windows users can run the PowerShell installer from the install page.
  • Developers with a cloned checkout can run node install.js or the manual pnpm path.

First useful prompts

Start with prompts that ask Disp8ch to inspect its own available capabilities, build a small workflow, or create a visible board task. This proves the app can answer, plan, and connect work surfaces before you add more credentials.

  • What can this app currently do? Separate implemented, configured, and callable.
  • Build a daily 9 AM research digest workflow, but ask before saving if anything is ambiguous.
  • Create a board task for each blocker in this launch document.
  • Remember that I prefer concise technical answers. Reply only saved.

Know the main loop

Data Sources ground the work. WebChat turns plain English into plans and confirmed actions. Council makes contested decisions. Hierarchy assigns goals. Workflows repeat the work. Boards keep follow-up visible. Memory preserves approved context.

Next step

This doc mirrors the in-app Docs tab. Install Disp8ch, open onboarding, and use WebChat when you want the app to inspect your current setup.
